Through time and still today, Leonardo da Vinci was the most influential of Italian thinkers. An artist, scientist, mathematician, engineer, and inventor, da Vinci’s legacy and pure brilliance is an inspiration to our craftsman in Italy and worldwide. Most famous for his accomplishments as a painter, what is less known was that da Vinci spent much time studying firearm engineering and mechanics and introduced his own inventions in the trade including the wheel-lock firing mechanism and an eight-barrel machine gun. Our newest innovation, The Leonardo, with the industry’s smallest receiver seat, is just another reason that sets us apart. An over-and-under sidelock with meticulous detail even where the eye cannot see, this is a masterpiece da Vinci would have admired. Just as da Vinci was a master of art and of science, so is our new model the perfection of form and function, and for this reason we have given it the name The Leonardo.

After a few years of study and preparation, with perfection as the target, we are proud to introduce The Leonardo model, our newly designed best sidelock over and under. The Leonardo is the perfect blend of individual handcrafted form and mechanical excellence. It will be produced in a limited edition of 75 shotguns in different gauges. The perfection of the Leonardo is achieved by using state of the art machinery including 5 axes, CNC, and the spark erosion machines.

We have invested considerably to ensure control of the best quality of each part and smooth operation in this process. At present, all of the work is done in-house including barrel manufacture. Our craftsman devote their best attention and skills to fitting and finishing to the fullest. Only top quality materials are used. All parts are milled out from solid and all gauges have proportioned frames and parts as in the best Famars tradition since the 1970’s. The Leonardo looks extremely elegant thanks to its smooth line and Boss styles forend. The perfect balance of the shotgun makes its handling and shooting a real pleasure.
